Within the imperial court, one figure is both dreaded and deeply respected: the Raven Consort, Ryuu Jusetsu. Secluded in her ink-black palace and kept apart from the emperor, she is the focus of endless speculation. Rumors claim she wields supernatural powers, capable of fulfilling any request—whether retrieving lost objects or laying curses. Some whisper she is an immortal sage, while others fear she is a terrifying ghost. Yet Jusetsu remains unmoved by such talk, preferring the peace of her own company. That tranquility is shattered when Emperor Ka Koushun bursts into her domain, seeking her aid with a mysterious matter.
The emperor's plea forces Jusetsu to leave her palace for the very first time. Though Ka Koushun's constant visits irritate her immensely, she cannot bring herself to refuse him. The words of her predecessor echo in her mind: the Raven Consort is fated to remain eternally alone, never yearning for anything. Nonetheless, Jusetsu begins to form her first real connection when she asks Jiujiu, a naive and curious palace girl, to become her sole attendant.
Together, they start answering the pleas of those within the palace. But hidden dangers lurk beyond her walls, and drawing too much attention may force Jusetsu to confront a past she would rather leave buried.
