When a new term begins, high school junior Kuroki ends up sitting beside Mai Chihara, a classmate who is the subject of countless rumors. With her gothic clothes, pitch-black hair, and piercing stare, Chihara is known as a "jirai-kei"—a style linked to a hyper-feminine, dark look often associated with yandere traits and unpredictable moods. Despite these intimidating stories, after accidentally locking eyes with Chihara, Kuroki notices she is not as unstable as others claim. Underneath her harsh facade, she is a kind-hearted yet odd person. As Kuroki cautiously tries to understand Chihara and her peculiar habits, they start to question whether there is more to her than just a threatening reputation—or if her gloomy fashion sense is simply a warning sign.
