Horiguchi Genki is a five-year-old boy who lost his mother at birth and was raised solely by his father. His father, Shark Horiguchi, was a professional boxer whose career declined, reducing him to an itinerant fighter. Nevertheless, Genki believed his father was strong and destined to become a champion, and he himself dreamed of becoming a powerful boxer just like him. After his father's death, Genki was taken in by his grandparents, who opposed his interest in boxing. Despite their objections, Genki resolved to pursue boxing and continued training in secret. Along the way, he encounters various people—such as Teacher Ashikiwa, who resembles his mother, and Mishima, a high school boxing champion—who help him forge his path toward becoming a boxer.

Lalabel, a magical girl, comes to the Human world to stop an evil wizard from stealing various magical objects or items. As is typical for a magical girl, she has a kitty companion and a magic wand. By chance, she lands on the doorstep of the Tachibana couple and moves in with them during her time in the human world. She enrolls at the local school and starts learning about the many aspects of the human world.
