"Start Signal" follows Ao Hibiki, a virtual YouTuber who was signed by Avex Inc. as a musical artist for a radio show on August 23, 2018. Through its label, the company produced an official music video for her. Avex then issued a challenge on their YouTube channel: if Ao fails to reach 1 million views, she will be removed from the radio program.
