Synopsis
Earth's resources were exhausted by overpopulation, forcing colonists to the Moon for perilous mining work. Their labor brought prosperity to Earth, but the colonists lived in constant fear. When extremist rebels abduct Melinda Hearst, girlfriend of a government official, lunar tensions explode. Third-generation colonist Shun Nonomura is torn between staying safe and joining the uprising. Meanwhile, in the distance stands Dallos, a mysterious edifice that may alter the Moon's destiny.
Background
Dallos was made in 1983 by Studio Pierrot, becoming world's first OVA series. It was also the directorial debut of Mamoru Oshii, who would later go on to direct such films as Angel's Egg, the first two Urusei Yatsura movies, and Ghost in the Shell.
