In a world where the title of Hero is a form of punishment rather than an honor, the most serious criminals are sent to the front lines of an endless war against the Demon Lords. Labeled as Heroes, they are forced into military service, denied the relief of death, and doomed to be revived and thrown back into battle repeatedly. Xylo Forbartz, once a respected commander of the Holy Knights, now leads Penal Hero Unit 9004, made up of prisoners considered disposable by their own nation. During a chaotic mission, Xylo meets Teoritta, a living weapon called a Goddess, whose presence could change the course of the war and Xylo's destiny. As the unit faces increasingly dangerous missions, Xylo must handle the challenges of commanding his squad, survive the battles ahead, and uncover the truth behind his own downfall.
