Synopsis
In Tobidase! Machine Hiryuu, competing automobile company leaders settle their corporate disputes through racing events, each supporting different teams. Chairman Gapporin recruits the renowned Okkanabichi, whereas Chairman Misaki selects novice driver Riki Kazama, who controls the flying machine known as Machine Hiryuu. This Tatsunoko production fuses elements that call to mind both Speed Racer and Time Bokan. The series includes Riki's attractive girlfriend Nana, junior mechanic Chuta, a humorous monkey and dog duo, and a group of delightfully villainous antagonists. With early work from celebrated artists like Yoshitaka Amano and Kunio Okawara, the show remains faithful to Tatsunoko's signature style. The narrative was also adapted into manga form, appearing in publications such as Terebi Magazine and Terebi Land. Reflecting the period's fascination with racing in Japanese animation, the series parallels other contemporary titles like Arrow Emblem.
