Ookina Furudokei is the Japanese adaptation of the 1876 song My Grandfather's Clock, which was composed by American songwriter Henry Clay Work. It appeared on NHK's Minna no Uta program, performed by Sumito Tachikawa together with the Nagato Miho Kagekidan Jidou Gasshoudan (Miho Nagato Opera Children's Choir). Rokurou Taniuchi created the illustrations, and the performance was broadcast in 1962. Because of copyright restrictions, the high cost of film reels, and the custom of reusing recording tapes, the video footage of Ookina Furudokei has been lost, making it classified as lost media.
