Synopsis
The national anthem "Kimigayo" opens with the chrysanthemum crest expanding to reveal the divine beings Izanagi and Izanami standing upon Ama no Ukihashi, the bridge of heaven. Using the heavenly halberd Ama no Nuboko, they create the Japanese archipelago from the droplets that fall into the ocean. Following the turbulent actions of Susanoo, the sun goddess Amaterasu conceals herself within the cave Ama no Iwato. The assembled deities gather at the cave entrance, and Ame no Uzume performs a dance outside to capture Amaterasu's notice. As Amaterasu peers outward, Tajikarao forcefully pries open the stone door, restoring the celestial light. A golden kite alights on a heavenly bow emerging from the haze, its brilliance driving away the malevolent forces across Japan. Finally, the three imperial regalia—the sword, the jewel, and the mirror—are unveiled.
