Synopsis
A fusuma (paper sliding door) piece inspired by the Hannya Shingyo (Prajna-paramita Hrdaya Sutram) was created by woodblock print artist Shikou Munakata. He inscribed the sutra in a single session without any preliminary drafts or sketches, resulting in a remarkably forceful and compelling artwork. Since my first encounter with this fusuma, I have harbored a particular fascination with the Hannya Shingyo... (excerpt from commentary by Keiichi Tanaami)
