Synopsis
Cold and alone, a nameless man awakens in a forest surrounded by unfamiliar sights. With no memories to guide him, he is completely lost until he encounters Kuon—a young girl possessing animal ears and a tail. She rescues him, guiding them both to her village while fending off "boro-gigiri," enormous centipede-like monsters, and a strange red slime. Upon reaching safety, she gives him the name Haku, after a notable historical figure from the region. He soon realizes he is unique—the only person lacking animal ears and a tail. Together, they travel to Yamato's capital, the country where Kuon lives, meeting new people and forming bonds, all while unwittingly becoming entangled in the political tensions and internal conflicts of Yamato... Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen follows Haku as he gradually unravels the mysteries of this foreign world. He strives to uncover the truth behind the red slimes and prevent war from breaking out among the neighboring nations.
