Synopsis
During the decline of the Sui Dynasty and the rise of the Tang, the story centers on Yang Guang, the second son of Emperor Wendi, who conspires to take the throne. Afraid of retaliation, high-ranking official Li Yuan decides to leave his post and return to his homeland, hoping for a peaceful and prosperous retirement. However, his second son, Li Shimin, is deeply attached to Changsun Wurong and cannot bear to leave her, even though she disapproves of his father's decision. On the journey home, Li Shimin is caught in a dangerous ambush set by Liao Wuji, an assassin dispatched by Yang Guang. Left defenseless, Li Shimin's life is on the line until Qin Qiong, a passing stranger, draws his sword and saves him. This act creates a strong friendship between them. As events progress, Li Shimin meets other famed individuals like Xu Maogong, Yuchi Gong, and Cheng Biaojin. With their backing, can Li Shimin succeed in overthrowing Yang Guang's reign?
