Synopsis
The animals hold a swimming competition. The boastful Saru-kun, a monkey, refuses to admit he cannot swim and volunteers as a contestant. He jumps in but immediately begins to sink. Strangely, the pool's bottom is covered in seaweed and coral, and a kappa, a water imp, lives there as well. Saru-kun fights the kappa and manages to grab the saucer off its head. The kappa agrees to let Saru-kun ride on its back while swimming, in exchange for the saucer's return. Saru-kun then glides through the pool, appearing to swim on his own, and wins the race. But what happens in the end?
