Synopsis
In 2070, humanity is threatened by massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Korea has descended into chaos, and Busan is flooded with refugees. Young street dealer Ha-jin possesses the ability to communicate with whales—a secret she guards carefully. One day, a one-armed woman named Baek Sang-won invites Ha-jin to join her in hunting the gules whale. Ha-jin initially refuses due to painful memories, but eventually agrees to go with Baek. While making friends aboard the ship, she becomes curious about the gules whale and discovers that each crew member carries a sorrowful story linked to it. The madness reflected in the crew's eyes as they strive to kill the gules forces Ha-jin to confront her own trauma—and she begins to experience that madness herself.
