Synopsis
In his first year of high school, Makoto Itou becomes entranced by Kotonoha Katsura's beauty at first sight. Although they ride the same train every day, his timidity keeps him from talking to her. Instead, he secretly snaps a picture of her and sets it as his phone wallpaper, convinced it will work like a charm to make his affections come true. When classmate Sekai Saionji finds the photo, she doesn't expose him but instead volunteers to help him win Kotonoha over, going so far as to befriend her on his behalf. This sparks an unplanned friendship among the three. The story follows these teens as they experience the emotional peaks and valleys of youth. Blending romance and sorrow, this tale leaves a lasting impact that lingers long after its dramatic end.
Background
At midnight on September 18, 2007, the final episode of the TVK program was cancelled without notice, and a travelogue program showing castles and boats was shown instead with the message, "Due to circumstances, the program has been changed." In fact, the day before the last episode was aired, a 16-year-old girl murdered her father in Kyoto Prefecture, which led to the postponement and cancellation of the last episode with a similar murder scene.
