Deep within the earth lies a vast chasm known as the Abyss, teeming with strange creatures and ancient relics from ages long gone. Its origins and what exists at its deepest point remain unsolved mysteries that countless explorers, called Divers, have risked their lives to uncover by descending into its darkest reaches. The most skilled and courageous Divers—the White Whistles—are celebrated as legends among those who stay above. Riko, the daughter of the missing White Whistle Lyza the Annihilator, dreams of following in her mother's footsteps and exploring the Abyss's farthest depths. However, she is only a novice Red Whistle, permitted to venture no further than the uppermost layer. One day, she stumbles upon a mysterious robot who looks like an ordinary boy. She names him Reg, and he has no memory of what happened before his discovery. Convinced that the technology behind Reg must originate from deep within the Abyss, the two decide to journey into the chasm—Reg to recover his lost memories, and Riko to see the bottom of the great pit with her own eyes. Yet they remain unaware of the cruel truths awaiting them in the Abyss's true reality.

Spontaneous Human Combustion is a chaotic affliction that has tormented humanity for many years, randomly turning normal people into blazing, aggressive beings called Infernals. While Infernals represent the first-generation cases of Human Combustion, second- and third-generation individuals are known as pyrokinetics—humans blessed with the capacity to wield and control their flames without losing their humanity. To fight the Infernal menace and uncover its origin, the Tokyo Armed Forces, Fire Defense Agency, and Holy Church of Sol created their solution: the Special Fire Force. Eager third-generation pyrokinetic Shinra Kusakabe, nicknamed Devil's Footprints for his explosive talent to ignite his feet at will, joins the lively Special Fire Force Company 8. Upholding the unit's mission to extinguish the raging Infernals and put their spirits to rest, Shinra is resolved to become a hero who rescues those endangered by the flame terror. But this is not the heroic adventure Shinra imagined. The Fire Force is a divided mess of squabbling brigades, abnormal Infernal sightings are on the rise throughout Tokyo, and a mysterious group claims to have knowledge about the strange fire that killed Shinra's family 12 years ago. Confronted with many obstacles inside and outside the Fire Force, Shinra battles to reveal the truth behind the burning mysteries that have kept him in the dark.

By the beginning of the 21st century, magic—once dismissed as myth and legend—has been transformed into a structured technology and taught as a technical discipline. At First High School, an institution for magicians, students are divided into two groups based on their entrance exam scores: "Blooms" are those who earn high marks and are placed in the First Course, while "Weeds" are reserve students assigned to the Second Course. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei follows the siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, who enroll at First High School. After taking the exam, the gifted Miyuki is placed in the First Course, whereas Tatsuya ends up in the Second Course. Despite his low practical test scores and his status as a "Weed" suggesting magical incompetence, Tatsuya possesses remarkable technical knowledge, strong physical combat skills, and unique magical abilities—making him the irregular at a magical high school.

Thirty years ago, a massive "spatial quake," a phenomenon involving space vibrations of unknown origin, devastated the Eurasian continent and claimed over 150 million lives. Since then, these quakes have continued to occur worldwide, though on a smaller scale. Shidou Itsuka is an ordinary high school student living with his younger sister, Kotori. When an impending spatial quake threatens Tengu City, he rushes to save her but gets caught in the eruption. At the quake's epicenter, he finds a mysterious girl who is identified as a "Spirit," a supernatural being whose appearance triggers such quakes. Soon, he is caught in a battle between the girl and the Anti-Spirit Team, a ruthless task force dedicated to eliminating Spirits. Yet there is a third group that believes in saving the Spirits: "Ratatoskr," which, surprisingly, is commanded by Shidou's little sister! After the clash, Kotori forcibly enlists Shidou and offers him an alternative approach to handling the danger Spirits pose—make them fall in love with him. Now, the world's fate depends on his dating skills as he sets out to charm the Spirits.

After his clash with his younger brother Shou in the Nether, Shinra Kusakabe's determination to become a hero who rescues people from the flame terror grows stronger. He aims to find a method to revert Infernals back to humans, solve the mysteries of the Evangelist and the Adolla Burst, and save both his mother and Shou. Yet Shinra now understands that achieving these objectives will prove difficult, especially given the immediate threat the Evangelist presents. The Evangelist's intention is evident: to collect the eight pillars—those who possess the Adolla Burst—and offer them as a sacrifice to recreate the Great Cataclysm that occurred 250 years ago. With the First Pillar revealing that a new pillar is about to emerge, Shinra is resolved to safeguard his fellow pillars from the Evangelist. Consequently, the fiery conflict between the Special Fire Force and the Evangelist ignites. Alongside the Special Fire Force, Shinra continues his battle, uncovering the truth behind the Great Cataclysm, the nature of Adolla Bursts, and the enigmas surrounding human combustion.

Situated in Japan, Academy City is thirty years ahead of the rest of the world in science and technology. Over seventy-five percent of its inhabitants are students training to develop psychic abilities as espers across various institutions. Touma Kamijou, a high school student, holds the lowest rank of zero but possesses a mysterious power known as Imagine Breaker, which can negate any supernatural force. Despite this unique gift, Touma lives a routine life until he meets Index Librorum Prohibitorum, a girl who has committed every forbidden grimoire to memory. Now, a dangerous faction is pursuing her. When magicians threaten the young girl, Touma vows to defend his new companion, pulling him into a concealed realm of the supernatural.

Around the year 2011, a small portion of humanity began awakening psychokinetic abilities known as Cantus. Over a thousand years later, in the village of Kamisu 66, Saki Watanabe is the last among her friends to manifest her powers and enroll at the Sage Academy, a school for psychics. Although all students there possess Cantus, they are not treated equally; soon after Saki starts, a classmate considered weaker than the rest suddenly disappears. One day while walking home with her friends—the determined Maria Akizuki, the intelligent Shun Aonuma, the observant Satoru Asahina, and the timid Mamoru Itou—she encounters two unfamiliar creatures called Monster Rats. These mole-like beings worship those who wield Cantus as gods. When Saki uses her ability to help one of them out of a predicament, she is met with profound gratitude. Now questioning the Monster Rats' place in society, Saki and her companions discover another disappearance. As time passes, they gradually seek answers to the mysteries surrounding them and begin to realize that this seemingly perfect new world conceals humanity's dark history.

Childhood friends Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro swore to become officers in the Defense Force—a military group that defends Japan from colossal monsters known as kaijuu—after their hometown was ruined. Decades later, the 32-year-old Kafka has abandoned his heroic dreams. He now cleans up the leftover remains of slain kaijuu after brave soldiers defeat them, including Mina, who has achieved their shared objective. When Kafka meets his new coworker Reno Ichikawa, he sees a reflection of his younger self: an ambitious young man whose only wish is to fight in the Defense Force. Unfortunately, the two soon get caught in a strange incident with a rogue kaijuu. Kafka saves Reno from certain death, revealing his natural heroic instincts, but is left badly injured. While both recover in a hospital, Kafka appears to be attacked by another kaijuu. This event gives him the ability to transform into a humanoid kaijuu, possessing the strength and powers of the massive monsters that threaten Japan. The military labels him "Kaijuu No. 8," and Kafka decides to use his new abilities for the common good. Bound by mutual respect, Kafka and Reno set out to fight alongside warriors like Mina on the front lines of the Defense Force.

Spirits are otherworldly entities of immense power whose appearances cause devastating spatial quakes. While certain factions seek their annihilation, others prefer to capture their affections and neutralize their powers. Having already sealed three Spirits, Shidou Itsuka continues his work with Ratatoskr, seeking out new targets and romancing them to safeguard the world. However, this time around, the pair confronts a growing menace that extends beyond the Spirits themselves, as a far more dangerous force begins to observe their activities.

Academy City, a metropolis teeming with students, stands at the cutting edge of scientific progress and houses the esper development program. The seven "Level 5" espers reign as the most formidable individuals within the city, with middle schooler Mikoto Misaka, an electricity manipulator known as "The Railgun," holding the third position. As strange incidents start cropping up across the city, she discovers each crime is linked to the mysterious "Level Upper," a legendary device said to boost an esper's level. As the situation intensifies, it becomes clear that the Level Upper hides more than meets the eye, and that Academy City may be a far more twisted place than the glamorous utopia it appears to be. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun centers on Mikoto and her friends—and the perilous situations they stumble into—as they become entangled in the Level Upper affair. As Mikoto puts it, "There's never a dull moment in this city."

In 2071, the Aragami—monstrous, invulnerable to standard weapons—are consuming everything, driving humanity toward extinction. In response, the Fenrir organization deploys God Eaters: humans enhanced with Oracle cells who wield God Arcs, the only weapons that can harm these creatures. Among them is Lenka Utsugi, a New-Type God Eater whose God Arc can transform between a blade and a firearm. As one of Fenrir’s most formidable soldiers, Lenka must refine his skills to fulfill his mission of permanently wiping out the Aragami. With the monsters breeding faster and human survivors holding on by a thread, only the God Eaters stand between the species and total annihilation.

The invasion of the D2 species, unleashed by a black meteorite, has thrown the United States of America into turmoil. Because these creatures despise music, authorities banned all melodic performances to prevent further loss of life, a restriction still enforced in 2047. Humanity’s sole defense lies with the Musicarts, young women who personify classical compositions, and their partners, the Conductors. When a D2 assault turns Takt Asahina, a detached piano prodigy, into a Conductor, he forms a bond with Destiny, a Musicart. The attack also kills Cosette, the younger sister of Anna Schneider. To stabilize the pact between Takt and Destiny, the three embark on a perilous journey to Symphonica Headquarters in New York City. Takt yearns to play again, even though his music attracts the monsters he fears, while Destiny’s strict adherence to duty frequently causes complications. Confronted by D2-infested roads and various obstacles, the group must find a way to reach New York City alive.

Having survived the brutal trials of Idofront, Riko now holds a White Whistle, granting her passage into the Abyss's sixth layer—the Capital of the Unreturned. Together with Reg and Nanachi, Riko begins exploring this uncharted territory, where the ruins of the promised Golden City lie. As the trio adjusts to the harsh surroundings, they soon encounter dangerous creatures and treacherous terrain. Their journey leads them to a village inhabited by strange beings called "hollows." Despite the unsettling atmosphere that greets them, the three press onward to uncover the secrets of the settlement and the forgotten legacies of adventurers who once descended into the unexplored Abyss's horrors.

Having bonded through shared grief, the weary Nanachi accompanies Riko and Reg as they venture deeper into the Abyss. They face the Sea of Corpses, the fifth layer and the deepest point from which one can return without losing their humanity. Standing in their way is the masked sadist Bondrewd, whose gruesome laboratory acts as a final barrier for those seeking to go further. The sociopathic scientist intends to exact a heavy toll from Riko’s group. Haunted by Bondrewd’s past cruelty, Nanachi struggles with intense inner turmoil upon his reappearance. The group discovers that Bondrewd’s sole vulnerability is Prushka, an impulsive girl who claims to be his daughter. Riko, Reg, and Nanachi befriend Prushka and collaborate with her to thwart her father’s schemes and reach the sixth layer of the Abyss.

The ongoing hostility between the magical realm and Academy City intensifies, forcing Touma Kamijou to wield his negation ability against espers and magicians alike to safeguard his companions. He does not fight alone—both familiar faces and fresh adversaries, whether fighting alongside him or operating from the shadows, join the struggle. Toaru Majutsu no Index II advances the tale of action and humor as Touma and his allies confront an expanding conflict. A looming war gradually takes shape, and magic and science are destined to collide once more in the approaching battle.

Willem Kmetsch risks everything, leaving his loved ones behind to fight a mysterious monster. Though he emerges victorious, he ends up frozen in ice. Though they look just like humans, they have no regard for their own lives, seeing themselves as mere tools of war. Among them is Chtholly Nota Seniorious, who is ready to sacrifice herself if it means defeating the Beasts and achieving peace. Willem becomes a father figure to the young Leprechauns, watching over them fondly and supporting them however he can. He, who once fought bravely on the front lines, can now only hope that those sent into battle return safely from the monsters that destroyed his kind.

Shidou Itsuka keeps carrying out his duty for Ratatoskr, finding Spirits and sealing their abilities while strengthening the connections he's built with the ones he's already sealed. When new Spirits appear, he has to tackle more difficult problems to stop additional catastrophes, and along the way, he discovers more about where the Spirits truly come from.

Mikoto Misaka and her friends return to investigate strange rumors circulating through Academy City. Before long, Mikoto uncovers a horrifying truth: deadly experiments are being conducted across the city, involving the systematic murder of thousands of espers. Even more shocking, these espers are not ordinary individuals—they are clones of Mikoto herself. Overcome with guilt over their plight, she resolves to stop the experiments. But the enemies she faces are far more formidable than she expected, pitting her against some of the most powerful espers imaginable. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S follows the Railgun as she desperately battles to end the inhumane experiments she believes she inadvertently caused, plunging her life into deep despair. Academy City never lacks excitement, but not all of it is pleasant.

After the Scorched Halloween incident, the world learns of a Strategic-class magician with extraordinary power. To track down this individual, the United States of the North American Continent sends its elite magician unit, Stars, led by commander Angie Sirius, on a secret mission to Japan. At First High School, Tatsuya Shiba and his friends hold a farewell party for Shizuku Kitayama, who is leaving for an exchange program in the USNA. Her replacement is the striking Angelina Kudou Shields, also known as Lina. Around this time, Tatsuya discovers that the USNA is trying to uncover his true identity. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a series of bodies drained of blood are found, blamed on a vampire. Tatsuya quickly connects the clues and concludes that these attacks are unlikely to be coincidental.

After the massive operation that resulted in the confinement of new recruit Kafka Hibino—also known as Kaijuu No. 8—the Defense Force remains uncertain about how to handle him. As the first kaijuu to ally with humans, Kafka is eventually transferred to the First Division after careful deliberation, with the hope that his power will strengthen the elite unit capable of facing any threat. Yet, lingering doubts about Kafka persist, and he must demonstrate his value in the upcoming mission. Soon, Kafka and the First Division are deployed when a massive swarm of ant-like kaijuu begins causing destruction. With the combined strength of Kafka's friend Kikoru Shinomiya and their captain, Gen Narumi, the mission appears to proceed smoothly. However, when Kafka fails to transform into his kaijuu form, the terrifying Kaijuu No. 9 enters the battle with a single objective—to eliminate him and seize his power. Though the situation seems dire, Kafka must overcome his toughest challenge yet alongside his comrades if he hopes to continue pursuing his dream: fighting side by side with his childhood friend and Third Division captain, Mina Ashiro.

After completing Benimaru Shinmon's brutal training, Shinra Kusakabe and Arthur Boyle head back to Special Fire Force Company 8. But there's no chance to rest—Captain Akitaru Oubi gets taken into custody by the military police, who are now under the control of the White-Clad cult. Meanwhile, Haumea, a White-Clad member and one of the eight pillars carrying the Adolla Burst, has successfully brainwashed the Tokyo Empire's leadership and embedded herself within the firefighting system. His routine is disrupted when he finds and aids a starving woman on the street, who then leads him to her apartment. There, she reveals her true identity as Nia Honjou, a well-known manga artist writing under a pseudonym, and discloses that she is a Spirit who knows the details of his secret work. Eager to test his charm, Nia dares Shidou to take her on a date. While attempting to seal her powers, Shidou uncovers more about Nia and her past connection to Deus Ex Machina Industries, an organization he knows all too well.

Shiki has spent his entire life surrounded by machines. At Granbell Kingdom, a deserted amusement park that hasn't seen visitors in a century, he is the only human. Everything changes when Rebecca Bluegarden and her cat companion Happy show up, hoping to film content for their B-Cube channel. Instead, they befriend the socially awkward Shiki. When Granbell becomes too hazardous for the trio, they embark on a journey across the Sakura Cosmos. Their goals include creating more exciting videos and searching for the legendary goddess Mother, while Shiki—inspired by his late grandfather's words—seeks to make more friends. The path won't be easy, since no one has ever encountered Mother, but Shiki is determined to reach his objective and explore the vast reaches of space alongside his newfound companions.
