In a far-off future, Earth has become a barren wasteland devoid of any human life. The only inhabitants are intelligent robots, originally designed to be immortal. Yet after the death of Luna, a catastrophe known as the Ruin sets in, causing their bodies to gradually decay with no remedy in sight. These robots cling to the desperate belief that consuming Casshern will grant them eternal life. Casshern himself has lost all memories of his past, his purpose, and even his own identity. He must uncover these forgotten truths while constantly fleeing from relentless robotic hunters who seek to extend their own existence. Wherever Casshern goes, destruction follows in his wake, yet he is forced to confront this grim reality in order to solve the mysteries surrounding his own being and the ultimate destiny of the world.

During the steam-powered era of Victorian Britain, the Industrial Revolution drives the empire's expansion. James Ray Steam, a young inventor from a distinguished family of innovators, resides in Manchester, where he spends his days laboring in local factories and gathering parts for his creations. One day, he gets a mysterious parcel from his grandfather, who is working with Ray's father in the United States. The parcel holds an odd ball fitted with a valve. Soon after, agents from the O'Hara Foundation storm his home, aiming to confiscate the object. Panicked and bewildered, Ray flees to the home of his grandfather's associate, Robert Stephenson, with his pursuers close behind. As he uncovers the secrets and capabilities of the ball, it becomes clear that multiple factions within the British Empire are competing to gain control of it.

In the wake of a mysterious environmental disaster 22 years ago, the Kanazawa prefecture was dramatically reshaped, with portions of land rising to form an isolated area known as the Lost Ground. They encounter a young man named Zagi, who tells them that only the "Jyu Oh Sei"—the one who defeats all four Rings—can leave the planet. Driven by a wish to go back home and find out the truth about his parents' murder, Thor decides to face the tough and dangerous conditions of Chimaera. He soon discovers that the planet's unique environment hides many unseen dangers. As Thor gets caught up in the conflicts between the Rings, he learns more about his parents' death and the larger consequences for humanity's future.

In Hong Kong, the Three Sisters Detective Agency is run by the Paper Sisters: Anita King, Maggie Mui, and Michelle Cheung. Their business usually revolves around book-related cases. They are hired to act as local guides for Nenene Sumiregawa, a Japanese novelist suffering from writer's block ever since her close friend Yomiko Readman vanished. Each sister possesses the ability to control paper, making them Paper Masters. Using these powers, they rescue Nenene from a group of terrorists at a book signing event and continue to protect her from further dangers. Maggie and Michelle, both passionate readers, are excited to guard their favorite author, but Anita—despite her paper-based abilities—strongly dislikes books. The sisters struggle to adjust to their new life in Japan while keeping Nenene safe and handling cases assigned by the mysterious organization Dokusensha. As they get to know Nenene better, they uncover connections between her, Yomiko's disappearance, and the unusual books Dokusensha sends them to investigate. What started as a routine job becomes their most crucial mission yet. Are these young women ready to risk everything for the sake of literature?

The old World War II battleship Yamato is then refitted with advanced weaponry and staffed by a courageous crew, transforming it into the Space Battleship Yamato. Their dangerous mission: crossing the galaxy to rescue humanity from total annihilation.

In Tomobiki, everyone receives an invitation to Ataru's wedding, causing Lum to explode in anger, particularly because she is not mentioned as the bride. The situation stems from an incident eleven years ago when Ataru played "Shadow Tag" with a young girl named Elle and emerged victorious. On Elle's home planet, winning this game means marriage. When Elle's representative arrives to finalize the wedding plans, Lum's attempts to intervene prove futile as a protective force field shields Ataru from her electrifying love attacks. Lum's ally, Benten, proposes a surprise wedding to preempt the arranged ceremony. As a result, Lum and Benten kidnap Ataru along with all the invited guests, leading to a chaotic impromptu wedding event.

The narrative unfolds on the planet Destiny, which claims to be the Universe's center and houses all terminals of the Galaxy Railways. The protagonist, Yuuki Manabu, aged 20, follows the will of his deceased father and brother by joining the SDF (Space Defense Force) to safeguard the Galaxy Railways. The SDF upholds the reputation of maintaining the finest transportation schedules in the Universe, handling accidents, natural disasters, rescue missions, and space pirates along every railway line. When Lum was born, a mailing error prevented a witch who was a family friend from receiving an invitation to the celebration. Enraged, the witch placed a curse on Lum, ensuring she would never find happiness with her True Love. In the present day, a new amusement park opens in Tomobiki, and the group heads there to enjoy the attractions on its opening day. During a magic act, Ataru is magically turned into a giant pink hippopotamus. As Lum searches for the magician responsible for transforming her Darling, the situation becomes increasingly absurd and surreal.

Lupica, yet another space princess from the endless stream of them who apparently discovered Earth through some travel brochure, shows up and kidnaps Ataru! However, Lupica isn't interested in Ataru for his good looks or winning personality—since he lacks both. Her true aim is the galaxy's most potent love potion, which she plans to use to make her beloved agree to marriage. To obtain it, she requires the being with the strongest lust in the entire cosmos...

While on an archaeological expedition at the farthest edge of the known universe, Professor Daiba unknowingly frees an ancient horror from its prison. Five years afterward, this malevolent alien entity executes a scheme that brings together the former crew of the Arcadia to once again travel the stars and also leads to Tadashi Daiba encountering Harlock for the first time (again).

This animated feature brings the Urusei Yatsura saga to a boiling point by adapting the final story arc of the original manga, though it is not the series' concluding film. Lupa, another of Lum's suitors, arrives on Earth, forcing Lum and Ataru to rekindle their game of tag to stop the planet from being obliterated. Ataru's only path to victory is uttering the three words "I love you," which he has stubbornly refused to say to Lum. Will he finally confess his true feelings to save the Earth, or will his pride lead to the world's destruction?

Unusual occurrences start happening in Tomobiki Town... While Lum and her companions are working on filming a movie, a large cherry tree named Tarozakura gets suddenly cut down. Soon after, Lum loses both her horns and her supernatural powers. This marks the start of the most unconventional and whimsical film in the Urusei Yatsura series.
