Synopsis
At sixteen, Yuuki Hase finally gathers the nerve to approach his crush and ask if they can be friends. That person is Kaori Fujimiya, a quiet and withdrawn girl who keeps everyone at a distance and gives him the same blunt refusal she offers everyone else. Sometime later, Yuuki discovers her eating lunch alone on the rooftop where she isolates herself during break. He decides to meet Kaori there every day, hoping to understand her better. As they spend more time together, she slowly begins to open up to him. But near the end of the week, she starts pushing him away again. Eventually, he learns the reason for her cold demeanor: every Monday, her memories of those close to her—except her family—are erased. This is the result of an accident she suffered in middle school, which turned the once popular and friendly Kaori into someone unable to make friends for fear of hurting the people she cares about. Determined to be more than just one-week friends, Yuuki asks her the exact same question every Monday: "Would you like to be friends?" Because he knows that deep down, Kaori wants that more than anything.
