Synopsis
Sakamichi Onoda is a cheerful otaku hoping to join the anime club at his new school and finally make some friends. However, he discovers the club has been disbanded, so he takes it upon himself to revive it by finding students willing to join. With little success, Onoda decides to make a weekly round trip to Akihabara on his old, bulky city bicycle—a 90-kilometer ride he has been doing since fourth grade. That is when he encounters fellow first-year student Shunsuke Imaizumi, a dedicated cyclist training on the school's steep hill. Impressed by Onoda's ability to climb the incline on such a bicycle, Imaizumi challenges him to a race, with the stipulation that if Onoda wins, Imaizumi will join the anime club. Thus begins the young boy's first step into the world of high school bicycle racing.
