Synopsis
A jet-black train cuts through an infinite, abstract landscape toward an unknown destination. From afar, its smoke plume looks soft and its rhythmic chugging sounds inviting. Up close, however, the machine is a wondrous beast, its monstrous roars capable of shaking spectators to their very core as it rapidly churns forward in perpetual thrashing.
Background
Pop consists of various monochrome images, including cel animation and drawings. The title is a reference to the sound of a passing train, as well as pop art. The animation won the second prize at the Zagreb Film Festival in Yugoslavia in 1974.
