The Place Where We Were

Synopsis

A couple is inside their home. The woman offers a heartfelt prayer while the man glances up from his newspaper, holding a cup of tea. Together, they look out the window. Above their house, a giant angel soars through the sky. A forest has sprouted on the angel's back. Within that forest, three creatures sit around a table playing cards. The cards, each with distinct images, are spread out: three cards depicting babies leap into a hole at the center of the table and begin a journey through the angel's body. They halt in a cave where a creature plays a harp for them, transforming the cards into tears. The tears drift through the air, exiting the angel's eyes, and one reaches the woman's womb. In the following scene, she sits at home, contentedly stroking her pregnant belly with her cat beside her. The next scene shows an exterior: a field with a solitary tree. The man dances and walks toward the tree; behind it, he finds his partner, the woman, holding a baby. They all smile at one another.
