The most skilled and courageous Divers—the White Whistles—are celebrated as legends among those who stay above. Riko, the daughter of the missing White Whistle Lyza the Annihilator, dreams of following in her mother's footsteps and exploring the Abyss's farthest depths. However, she is only a novice Red Whistle, permitted to venture no further than the uppermost layer. One day, she stumbles upon a mysterious robot who looks like an ordinary boy. She names him Reg, and he has no memory of what happened before his discovery. Convinced that the technology behind Reg must originate from deep within the Abyss, the two decide to journey into the chasm—Reg to recover his lost memories, and Riko to see the bottom of the great pit with her own eyes. Yet they remain unaware of the cruel truths awaiting them in the Abyss's true reality.

Spontaneous Human Combustion is a chaotic affliction that has tormented humanity for many years, randomly turning normal people into blazing, aggressive beings called Infernals. While Infernals represent the first-generation cases of Human Combustion, second- and third-generation individuals are known as pyrokinetics—humans blessed with the capacity to wield and control their flames without losing their humanity. Thirty years ago, a massive "spatial quake," a phenomenon involving space vibrations of unknown origin, devastated the Eurasian continent and claimed over 150 million lives. After the clash, Kotori forcibly enlists Shidou and offers him an alternative approach to handling the danger Spirits pose—make them fall in love with him. Now, the world's fate depends on his dating skills as he sets out to charm the Spirits.

After his clash with his younger brother Shou in the Nether, Shinra Kusakabe's determination to become a hero who rescues people from the flame terror grows stronger. He aims to find a method to revert Infernals back to humans, solve the mysteries of the Evangelist and the Adolla Burst, and save both his mother and Shou. Yet Shinra now understands that achieving these objectives will prove difficult, especially given the immediate threat the Evangelist presents. Touma Kamijou, a high school student, holds the lowest rank of zero but possesses a mysterious power known as Imagine Breaker, which can negate any supernatural force. Despite this unique gift, Touma lives a routine life until he meets Index Librorum Prohibitorum, a girl who has committed every forbidden grimoire to memory. Now, a dangerous faction is pursuing her. When magicians threaten the young girl, Touma vows to defend his new companion, pulling him into a concealed realm of the supernatural.

Around the year 2011, a small portion of humanity began awakening psychokinetic abilities known as Cantus. Over a thousand years later, in the village of Kamisu 66, Saki Watanabe is the last among her friends to manifest her powers and enroll at the Sage Academy, a school for psychics. Although all students there possess Cantus, they are not treated equally; soon after Saki starts, a classmate considered weaker than the rest suddenly disappears. Academy City, a metropolis teeming with students, stands at the cutting edge of scientific progress and houses the esper development program. The seven "Level 5" espers reign as the most formidable individuals within the city, with middle schooler Mikoto Misaka, an electricity manipulator known as "The Railgun," holding the third position. As strange incidents start cropping up across the city, she discovers each crime is linked to the mysterious "Level Upper," a legendary device said to boost an esper's level. As the situation intensifies, it becomes clear that the Level Upper hides more than meets the eye, and that Academy City may be a far more twisted place than the glamorous utopia it appears to be. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun centers on Mikoto and her friends—and the perilous situations they stumble into—as they become entangled in the Level Upper affair. Together with Reg and Nanachi, Riko begins exploring this uncharted territory, where the ruins of the promised Golden City lie. As the trio adjusts to the harsh surroundings, they soon encounter dangerous creatures and treacherous terrain. Their journey leads them to a village inhabited by strange beings called "hollows." Despite the unsettling atmosphere that greets them, the three press onward to uncover the secrets of the settlement and the forgotten legacies of adventurers who once descended into the unexplored Abyss's horrors.

Having bonded through shared grief, the weary Nanachi accompanies Riko and Reg as they venture deeper into the Abyss. They face the Sea of Corpses, the fifth layer and the deepest point from which one can return without losing their humanity. Standing in their way is the masked sadist Bondrewd, whose gruesome laboratory acts as a final barrier for those seeking to go further. The sociopathic scientist intends to exact a heavy toll from Riko’s group. Haunted by Bondrewd’s past cruelty, Nanachi struggles with intense inner turmoil upon his reappearance. The group discovers that Bondrewd’s sole vulnerability is Prushka, an impulsive girl who claims to be his daughter. Riko, Reg, and Nanachi befriend Prushka and collaborate with her to thwart her father’s schemes and reach the sixth layer of the Abyss.

The ongoing hostility between the magical realm and Academy City intensifies, forcing Touma Kamijou to wield his negation ability against espers and magicians alike to safeguard his companions. He does not fight alone—both familiar faces and fresh adversaries, whether fighting alongside him or operating from the shadows, join the struggle. Toaru Majutsu no Index II advances the tale of action and humor as Touma and his allies confront an expanding conflict. A looming war gradually takes shape, and magic and science are destined to collide once more in the approaching battle.

Shidou Itsuka keeps carrying out his duty for Ratatoskr, finding Spirits and sealing their abilities while strengthening the connections he's built with the ones he's already sealed. When new Spirits appear, he has to tackle more difficult problems to stop additional catastrophes, and along the way, he discovers more about where the Spirits truly come from.

Mikoto Misaka and her friends return to investigate strange rumors circulating through Academy City. Before long, Mikoto uncovers a horrifying truth: deadly experiments are being conducted across the city, involving the systematic murder of thousands of espers. Even more shocking, these espers are not ordinary individuals—they are clones of Mikoto herself. Overcome with guilt over their plight, she resolves to stop the experiments. But the enemies she faces are far more formidable than she expected, pitting her against some of the most powerful espers imaginable. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S follows the Railgun as she desperately battles to end the inhumane experiments she believes she inadvertently caused, plunging her life into deep despair. Academy City never lacks excitement, but not all of it is pleasant.

After the Scorched Halloween incident, the world learns of a Strategic-class magician with extraordinary power. To track down this individual, the United States of the North American Continent sends its elite magician unit, Stars, led by commander Angie Sirius, on a secret mission to Japan. At First High School, Tatsuya Shiba and his friends hold a farewell party for Shizuku Kitayama, who is leaving for an exchange program in the USNA. Her replacement is the striking Angelina Kudou Shields, also known as Lina. Around this time, Tatsuya discovers that the USNA is trying to uncover his true identity. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a series of bodies drained of blood are found, blamed on a vampire. Tatsuya quickly connects the clues and concludes that these attacks are unlikely to be coincidental.

After the massive operation that resulted in the confinement of new recruit Kafka Hibino—also known as Kaijuu No. 8—the Defense Force remains uncertain about how to handle him. As the first kaijuu to ally with humans, Kafka is eventually transferred to the First Division after careful deliberation, with the hope that his power will strengthen the elite unit capable of facing any threat. Yet, lingering doubts about Kafka persist, and he must demonstrate his value in the upcoming mission. Soon, Kafka and the First Division are deployed when a massive swarm of ant-like kaijuu begins causing destruction. With the combined strength of Kafka's friend Kikoru Shinomiya and their captain, Gen Narumi, the mission appears to proceed smoothly. However, when Kafka fails to transform into his kaijuu form, the terrifying Kaijuu No. 9 enters the battle with a single objective—to eliminate him and seize his power. There, she reveals her true identity as Nia Honjou, a well-known manga artist writing under a pseudonym, and discloses that she is a Spirit who knows the details of his secret work. Eager to test his charm, Nia dares Shidou to take her on a date. While attempting to seal her powers, Shidou uncovers more about Nia and her past connection to Deus Ex Machina Industries, an organization he knows all too well.

Shiki has spent his entire life surrounded by machines. At Granbell Kingdom, a deserted amusement park that hasn't seen visitors in a century, he is the only human. Everything changes when Rebecca Bluegarden and her cat companion Happy show up, hoping to film content for their B-Cube channel. Instead, they befriend the socially awkward Shiki. When Granbell becomes too hazardous for the trio, they embark on a journey across the Sakura Cosmos.
