Synopsis
This feature-length film is based on the autobiography of Cho "Chocchan" Kuroyanagi, the mother of famous actress Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, and depicts Chocchan's life in Japan before World War II. Going against her family's wishes, she marries a violinist, and the couple starts their life together in poverty while raising three children. Despite enduring many difficulties, they stay cheerful and hopeful. Their tranquility is shattered when war breaks out and Chocchan's husband is drafted to serve on the front lines.
