Synopsis
Based on a picture book that portrays the 2004 Chuetsu earthquake in Niigata Prefecture, this story follows Mari and her three newborn puppies. When the earthquake strikes, their home in Yamakoshimura collapses, trapping their elderly caretaker under the debris. Mari breaks free from her chain and stays by his side, lifting his spirits until help arrives. Though the old man is rescued, he cannot bring the dogs with him, forcing him to leave them behind in the now-abandoned village. Can Mari and her pups endure these harsh conditions?
