"47 Prefecture Dogs" is a brief flash animation that originated from a voice-over variety TV program in Japan titled "SAY! YOU! SAY! ME!" This animation transforms Japan's 47 prefectures—or more precisely, the local specialties or famous landmarks from each area—into canine characters. For instance, the "Fukuoka-ken" (Fukuoka dog), with Fukuoka being the home of asianbeat HQ, uses the delicacy "mentaiko" (spicy pollack roe) as the inspiration for its dog design. Each character is voiced by a voice actor who comes from that specific prefecture; "Fukuoka-ken" is voiced by Fukuoka native Kana Asumi. Another notable aspect of this anime is the incorporation of regional dialects. All the dogs speak in the dialect unique to their respective prefectures. So, for the Fukuoka dog, you hear many sentences ending with "~to" and "~to yo"; for the Aichi dog, it's "~dagane"; and for Ehime, "~zonamoshi," and so on.
