Beneath the surface of the earth lies the Abyss, a massive chasm filled with bizarre creatures and ancient relics from forgotten times. The mystery of its origin and the secrets it holds have drawn countless explorers, known as Divers, to descend into its depths at tremendous risk. Among these, the most revered and brave are the White Whistles, celebrated as heroes by those who fear the downward journey. Riko, whose mother is the legendary White Whistle Lyza the Annihilator that disappeared during an expedition, dreams of reaching the Abyss's deepest levels. Currently, she is only a novice Red Whistle, restricted to the uppermost layer. One day, she discovers a peculiar robot resembling a young boy who has no memory of his past. Naming him Reg, Riko suspects the advanced technology within him must come from the depths of the Abyss. Together, they embark on a journey into the abyssal darkness: Reg searches for his lost memories, while Riko is resolved to reach the bottom herself. However, they remain ignorant of the brutal realities that await them in the unforgiving world of the Abyss.

In Serial Experiments Lain, fourteen-year-old Lain Iwakura is an introverted girl who struggles with social interaction until she unexpectedly receives an email from Chisa Yomoda, a classmate who has already died. Despite having little experience with technology, Lain opens the message and is drawn into the Wired, a digital network akin to the Internet. This event transforms her life as she confronts mysterious puzzles. Figures known as the Men in Black begin appearing around her, questioning her with intimate details about her life that even she does not fully grasp. As the boundaries between the physical world and cyberspace grow indistinct, Lain becomes entangled in increasingly surreal scenarios that challenge the nature of identity, consciousness, and reality. Around the year 2011, a segment of humanity began to manifest telekinetic abilities called Cantus. A millennium later, in the village of Kamisu 66, Saki Watanabe is the final member of her cohort to awaken these powers and enter the Sage Academy, an institution dedicated to Cantus users. Despite every student possessing such abilities, true equality remains elusive; shortly after Saki starts her education, a classmate deemed less powerful vanishes without a trace. While returning home with her companions—Maria Akizuki, who is resolute; Shun Aonuma, recognized for his intellect; Satoru Asahina, keen and perceptive; and the shy Mamoru Itou—Saki encounters two strange creatures known as Monster Rats. These mole-like entities revere Cantus users as kami. When Saki employs her power to assist one, she is greeted with profound gratitude. As Saki contemplates the role of Monster Rats in their society, she and her friends uncover yet another disappearance. With each passing day, they delve deeper into the surrounding enigmas, gradually realizing that the seemingly utopian new world hides the grim realities of human history.

Having survived the perilous trials of Idofront, Riko obtains a White Whistle, which grants her passage to the Abyss's sixth layer, the Capital of the Unreturned. Accompanied by Reg and Nanachi, she ventures into this unexplored region where the legendary Golden City is said to be concealed. As they traverse the brutal environment, the group faces lethal creatures and treacherous terrain. Their path leads them to a village home to enigmatic entities known as "hollows." Despite the eerie surroundings, the trio continues forward to reveal the settlement's mysteries and the forgotten tales of adventurers who plunged into the Abyss's deepest unknown.

Bound together by shared sorrow, Nanachi accompanies Riko and Reg as they descend deeper into the Abyss. Their expedition brings them to the fifth layer, the Sea of Corpses, the deepest point reachable without risking one's sanity. However, their progress is halted by the sinister masked figure Bondrewd, whose horrifying laboratory stands as a massive barrier for anyone wishing to proceed. This deranged scientist plans to exact a heavy toll on Riko and her companions. Nanachi is haunted by recollections of Bondrewd's past crimes, suffering immense emotional turmoil upon facing his former nemesis again. The group discovers that Bondrewd's sole vulnerability is Prushka, a stubborn young girl who asserts she is his daughter. By forming a friendship with Prushka, Riko, Reg, and Nanachi unite to thwart her father's evil schemes and push forward into the sixth layer of the Abyss.

In 2063, space travel is commonplace and commercially viable. Aries Spring, an upbeat participant, heads to the spaceport for a camp on the remote planet McPa, only to have her purse stolen by a careless thief. Kanata Hoshijima, one of the athletic teens joining her on the excursion as part of team B-5, swiftly recovers it. Upon arriving at their campsite, the group experiences a sudden twist when a mysterious sphere of dark energy sucks them into deep space. Now stranded with slim chances of survival, they find an abandoned vessel that could be their ticket home. However, they soon discover they are thousands of light-years away from where they started. Confronting this harsh truth, the nine stranded individuals must meticulously conserve their supplies, maintain their stamina, and collaborate to navigate the dangers of space. Despite the unknown cause of their predicament, they embark on a treacherous voyage back home aboard their newly acquired ship, the Astra.

In the perpetually dark underground city of Lux, its inhabitants live under constant fear, dominated by the oppressive rule of rival criminal factions. Cut off from the world above, these groups only interact through the extraction of "raffia," the mineral that sustains Lux's existence. This unique substance, found only in Lux, is crucial for "texhnolyze" operations, which allow people to replace their body parts with cybernetic limbs that do not trigger immune rejection. The mysterious "Class" organization researches these transplants and controls raffia production, granting executive power to Organo, a group led by Keigo Oonishi, who has texhnolyzed legs and is said to hear the "voice of the city." Lux's fragile balance of power shatters when an enigmatic stranger, Kazuho Yoshii, instigates a series of crimes that spark conflicts among the gangs. In the resulting turmoil, new figures emerge: Ichise, a former boxer who was crippled by Organo and recently fitted with texhnolyzed limbs by Eriko "Doc" Kamata; and Ran, a young florist who possesses the ability of foresight. As Lux descends into chaos, both Ichise and Ran find themselves at the center of the city's most severe crisis yet.

In the year 5053, French nobles Viscount Albert de Morcerf and Baron Franz d'Epinay attend the Carnival festivities in the lunar colony of Luna. While Franz is satisfied with the revelry, Albert craves a more profound purpose in his life. His search for meaning shifts dramatically when he captures the attention of the mysterious and charismatic Count of Monte Cristo, a self-made aristocrat, during an opera performance. As the story progresses, Albert develops a friendship with the Count and introduces him to the elite circles of French society. However, the Count's true motives go beyond simple companionship; he is orchestrating a long-awaited vengeance against those who wronged him in the past. "Gankutsuou" explores the intertwined fates of Albert and the Count, and the heavy cost of seeking justice through revenge.

This movie compiles episodes nine through thirteen of the 2017 TV series. Riko and Reg descend into the Abyss's third layer, where Riko encounters the Curse for the first time. They continue deeper to the fourth layer, and Riko's arm is injured by an Orbed Piercer. Reg tries to rescue her, but Nanachi intervenes to save Riko's poisoned limb. As repayment, Nanachi requests that Reg eliminate her eternal companion, Mitty. Afterward, Nanachi joins Riko and Reg on their quest to reach the Abyss's depths.

In the near future, augmented reality has become an everyday part of life. Middle schooler Yuuko "Yasako" Okonogi and her family move to Daikoku City, ignoring rumors of strange disappearances. There, her grandmother, known as "Mega-baa," runs Megasia, a shop that sells illegal devices for accessing hidden areas of the virtual world. Mega-baa also leads an informal detective group called "Coil," made up of young people who investigate corruption in the digital realm. Yasako joins this group when Fumie Hashimoto, a cheerful member of Coil, helps rescue her cyberdog Densuke, who gets trapped in virtual space while chasing a mysterious virus. Another key figure in the investigation is Yuuko Amasawa, a sarcastic hacker nicknamed Isako. As Coil digs deeper into the mystery of these viruses and the underlying corruption, the stakes grow higher. Can they uncover the truth, and what will they have to sacrifice along the way?

Ayato Kamina is a high school student whose everyday routine is shattered when advanced fighter jets attack Tokyo. Amid the chaos, he meets Haruka Shitow, an agent from the secret government organization TERRA. She reveals that Ayato has been living inside a temporal distortion called Tokyo Jupiter, created by the Mulians—beings from another dimension who aim to isolate and control Tokyo. Haruka eventually finds Ayato and urges him to join the fight against the Mulians. As Ayato becomes caught between TERRA and the Mulians, his sense of purpose wavers, and he struggles with manipulated memories and questions his own identity in this bewildering new world.

After their parents are killed, 11-year-old twins Thor and Rai Klein are exiled from their home planet and end up on the terraformed world of Chimaera, where dangerous plant life dominates and humans are split into four rival groups called "Rings." They encounter a young man named Zagi, who tells them that only the "Jyu Oh Sei"—the one who defeats all four Rings—can leave the planet. Driven by a wish to go back home and find out the truth about his parents' murder, Thor decides to face the tough and dangerous conditions of Chimaera. He soon discovers that the planet's unique environment hides many unseen dangers. As Thor gets caught up in the conflicts between the Rings, he learns more about his parents' death and the larger consequences for humanity's future.

In "GYO: Tokyo Fish Attack!," college student Kaori Sawahara's dream vacation to Okinawa becomes a nightmare when sea creatures emerge from the ocean, transformed by mysterious mechanical devices into walking monsters on land. Together with her friends—the outgoing Erika and the quiet Aki—Kaori endures a brutal assault defined by the creatures' foul odor. For over five hundred years, sightings of enigmatic white-haired children have been reported across various times and locations in Europe. They always appear to be about eleven years old, yet they behave with a maturity beyond their apparent age, never age, and seem to possess supernatural power. Their goal is to find a specific girl, and the only clue they have is a picture featuring a crescent moon. Now, in the year 2012, an athletic boy named Tohma is about to become entangled in this centuries-old mystery.

Naoto and Naoya Kirihara spent 15 years confined in a research facility because of their supernatural abilities. After the psychic barrier that isolated them from the world vanished, they finally escaped—only to learn that their parents had abandoned them out of fear. Despite wishing for a normal life, they find themselves compelled to use their powers to protect others as minus energy spreads across the globe, causing a rise in psychic-related crimes. This is a sci-fi story centered on a cyber battle. By 2022, quantum computing technology had progressed significantly, allowing numerous individuals to upload their consciousness into cyberspace. Remu's sister-in-law, Shiki, had advanced through school quickly and at age fourteen enrolled in a high school within the academic metropolis known as Okinotori-island Mega Float City (OMFC). One day, via Skype, Shiki revealed to her brother that she was communicating with him directly from cyberspace, as her physical body was being kept submerged in a tank of culture fluid. This setup was referred to as a "Body pool," and Shiki accessed the network through nanomachines embedded in her brain. Initially surprised, Remu nevertheless respected her choice—until a catastrophe known as the "Early Rupture" occurred. The network server became overloaded, causing users' minds to become lost in cyberspace while their empty bodies remained alive in the Body Pools. Determined to retrieve Shiki's consciousness, Remu goes to her apartment in OMFC, where he encounters Shiki, who has fled the hospital. However, the girl informs him that she is not Shiki; she has somehow taken possession of Shiki's body. As Remu attempts to comprehend the situation, a brutal assault hits the apartment. Arve Rezzle: Kikaijikake no Yousei-tachi was among the four productions of the Anime Mirai 2013 initiative (the Young Animator Training Project), which was financed by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs to foster the development of animators. Whenever a boomer incident occurs, though, there is the Advanced Police, a special force trained to deal with boomer crimes. Leon McNichol is a rookie in the AD Police, and is just starting to become exposed to the horrors and tragedies one finds every day in MegaTokyo. He and his veteran partner, Gina Marceau, slowly learn about the ever-fading line that separates man from machine.

In search of his cherished companion, Wu Liuqi returns to Xuanwu Country and reencounters fragments of his forgotten past.
