Synopsis
During China's Warring States period—a five-hundred-year-long era of chaos likened to a rampaging dragon—numerous kingdoms rose and fell, clearing the way for new kings and generals to vie for dominance. In time, seven powerful states emerged from this unending cycle of conflict. In the state of Qin, Xin, a slave orphaned by war, trains relentlessly alongside his best friend and fellow slave, Piao. The two share a proud ambition: to one day become a Great General of the Heavens. Their bond is suddenly broken when Piao is recruited by a royal retainer to work in the palace. Following a violent coup d'état, Piao returns to Xin, barely alive, and entrusts him with a mission that leads to a meeting with Ying Zheng, the young king of Qin, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Piao. Kingdom follows Xin as he takes his first steps into the blood-soaked annals of China's history, determined to forge his own path to glory in his long quest to become a Great General of the historic Seven Warring States.
