In the story "Gan Gan Ganko-chan," Gen, a boy from the year 2020, is suddenly sent to a far-off future where all humans have disappeared. He comes to live with the Ganko family in the Rustling Forest, and he must get used to a world without modern comforts like electricity, gas, indoor plumbing, television, smartphones, convenience stores, snacks, or video games.
