Sixteen-year-old Yuuta Okkotsu, a timid student frequently harassed by bullies, suffers from violent incidents caused by his monstrous curse, Rika Orimoto. This curse, stemming from his painful past, poses a lethal threat to anyone who provokes him. Yuuta's unusual situation catches the attention of Satoru Gojou, a powerful sorcerer and teacher at Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School. Recognizing Yuuta's potential, Gojou aims to help him use his curse for good. However, Yuuta struggles to fit in with his skilled classmates, including the selectively silent Toge Inumaki, weapons specialist Maki Zenin, and the mysterious Panda. During missions with his peers, Yuuta awkwardly controls Rika's immense power, which often leads to horrific results. These events attract the interest of Suguru Getou, a cunning curse user who seeks to exploit Rika's strength to eliminate all non-jujutsu practitioners. Alongside his friends, Yuuta fights to stop Getou's genocidal plan.

His ordinary world is turned upside down when he stumbles upon a cursed object. After swallowing what is actually the finger of Sukuna Ryoumen, the wicked King of Curses, Yuuji is thrust into a dangerous world of curses created from negative human emotions. As he begins to understand his new abilities, Yuuji is admitted to Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, starting his irreversible path as a jujutsu sorcerer.
