The Adventures of Little Carp

Synopsis

A young carp named Bubbles resides in Carp Lake with his grandmother. She frequently recounts tales of the legendary Dragon, the supreme ruler of all seas and rivers, whom Bubbles greatly admires. One day, Bubbles meets Evil Snake, who falsely claims to be the Dragon King. Accompanied by his two henchmen, Lobby and Bogart, Evil Snake goes with Bubbles to the lake. Bubbles' grandmother suspects the snake is an impostor, but initially no one believes her. Eventually, Evil Snake's "dragon horns" and fake skin fall off, exposing his true identity. Enraged, Evil Snake engages in a fierce battle and turns Bubbles' grandmother into a bubble. Furious and grief-stricken, Bubbles sets out to find the real Dragon in order to revive his grandmother and avenge her. He must locate the five dragon scales left behind by the Dragon to defeat Evil Snake. Along his journey, Bubbles makes new friends: the intimidating Aku, the sassy Mei Mei, and the timid Erl. Meanwhile, Evil Snake and his lackeys relentlessly chase after Bubbles.

Background

Based on a Chinese folktale called "The Carp Jumps Over the Dragon Gate." The Adventures of Little Carp was released on VCD and DVD in 2006. It was also adapted as comic book, and as an educational book.
