Cute High Earth Defense Club Love!

Synopsis

Set in the Taisho era, a time brimming with romantic charm and compassionate hearts, five ordinary (?) male students—Unzen, Sukayu, Unohana, Oshamanbe, and Aso—attend Binan High School. They spend their days idling in the clubroom of the "do-nothing club" known as the Earth Defense Club and share a living space at the Kurotama dormitory. One morning, while the five of them are bathing together in the dormitory, they sense something slithering in the tub. After a struggle to capture it, they discover it's a talking Pallas's cat named Nuru! Nuru has journeyed from the distant future with a critical message: the Earth is under an impending threat of destruction. Though he claims to want to protect the planet, he states that his role is merely to warn them of the crisis, leaving it up to the five to decide whether they will fight for Earth. Isn't this just a way to evade responsibility? The Defense Club members grow suspicious. "If either is fine with you, I'll do it! That's more fashionable!" Unzen declares enthusiastically. The five ultimately choose to fight of their own free will, and Nuru uses feline science to transform them into the Haikara Romantic Troupe. Meanwhile, a mysterious trio known as the Bankara New Elite Squad lurks in the shadows, plotting to seize control of Earth.
