Synopsis
"Chun Tae-il" explores the life of Chun Taeil, who began as a factory helper distributing bread to starving workers. As a tailor, he could not ignore the brutal conditions at Pyeonghwa Market and grew into a determined champion of the Labor Standards Act. Rather than simply glorifying Chun Taeil as a heroic icon, this animated film takes a close look at his personality and fate. It recounts the story of the oldest son forced to earn money to support his struggling household, and a laborer compelled to ignite a movement alongside coworkers who had no experience with organizing protests. The movie also captures the poetic backdrop and the people of Chun Taeil's era. "Chun Tae-il" offers a detailed depiction of individuals fighting to preserve their dignity against overwhelming obstacles, presented as an emotionally resonant and visually stunning animation. The voice cast includes Jang Dongyoon as Chun, Yeom Hyeran as Chun’s mother, Lee Sosun, as well as Jin Seonkyu, Park Chulmin, and Kwon Haehyo.
