Synopsis
Japan's rate of terrorist incidents has dropped significantly, a result of the covert organization Direct Attack (DA). DA raises orphaned girls to become assassins as part of their "Lycoris" initiative. Takina Inoue is a highly skilled Lycoris known for her strong sense of duty and insistence on flawless execution. However, during a hostage crisis, her patience wears thin; her subsequent act of defiance gets her removed from DA. Disheartened at losing her only home, she reluctantly reports to her new assignment—LycoReco, a café that serves as a front. Takina's new partner is far from what she expected. Chisato Nishikigi, a legendary Lycoris prodigy, seems almost indifferent to her responsibilities. She pulls Takina into various odd jobs, simply claiming they need to help people. What confuses Takina even more is that Chisato neutralizes armed attackers without killing any of them. Feeling completely out of place, Takina longs to be reinstated at DA—but Chisato is committed to showing her that life holds more meaning than simply taking lives.
