In the night sky, stars appear as eternal lights, their glow seemingly impossible for humans to reach. Becoming one of these radiant celestial bodies requires an enormous amount of energy. Yet the unassuming nighthawk, once mocked by other birds and forced to endure great suffering, was able to transform its pain into formidable strength. This allowed it to ascend to the heavens and shine as the nighthawk star. Ryu Kato's short but moving film celebrates over eighty years of Kenji Miyazawa's fantastical stories, drawing from the narrative titled "The Nighthawk Star."
