Synopsis
In a certain affluent town, discarding objects is a common practice among its residents. However, for Rudo, who lives in the slums, such waste is valuable. Ignoring the repeated warnings from his adoptive father Regto, Rudo constantly scavenges for reusable items that would be dumped into the enormous disposal site called the Pit. Because of its sheer size, the Pit also serves as a method of criminal punishment—anyone thrown in never returns. After Regto is killed by an unknown attacker, Rudo is wrongly blamed for the murder and tossed into the Pit. He awakens there, surrounded by heaps of trash and facing giant monsters born from the refuse. With the poisonous air and Trash Beasts pushing him toward death, Rudo is rescued by Enjin, a member of the Cleaners who use weapons known as Vital Instruments to battle these creatures. After obtaining his own Vital Instrument, Rudo decides to join the Cleaners, hoping to find a way out of the Pit and to take revenge for his father.
