Crab Temple Omen

Synopsis

"Crab Temple Omen" is an early silhouette animation made by Hidehiko Okuda, Hakusan Kimura, and Tomu Uchida. Its narrative derives from a Buddhist parable in which a young woman prevents a crab—regarded as a spiritual being within Japanese Buddhist tradition—from being eaten. Afterwards, the crab helps her when she finds herself in danger.
