Synopsis
Filmmaker Nobuhiro Kawanaka has described this work as "sexier than sex itself." The film alternates between extreme close-ups of a nude heterosexual couple and aerial helicopter footage of a bamboo forest captured in wide shots. The edited footage was then projected onto a screen and rephotographed onto high-contrast black-and-white film stock. At the processing lab, this material was printed using 80 to 100 different color gradations, resulting in a visual effect akin to posterization.
