Synopsis
Denji never got to experience a normal childhood because he was weighed down by his father's crushing debts. His only companion was Pochita, a chainsaw devil, and together they hunted other devils for money that was immediately taken by the yakuza. All Denji wanted was simple things: good food and a kind girlfriend. When the yakuza betrayed him, Denji died a violent death, shattering those dreams. But as part of an old pact, Pochita merged with Denji's body, giving him devil powers and transforming him into a chainsaw-wielding hybrid. Makima, a top devil hunter from the Public Safety Bureau, saw the danger Denji now posed and took him in, keeping him under close watch. With the promise of a stable life and a beautiful companion driving him, Denji threw himself into Makima's mission, fighting relentlessly to make his once-innocent dreams come true.
Background
Chainsaw Man was released in four volumes on Blu-ray and DVD from January 27, 2023, to April 28, 2023. It adapts chapters 1-38 of the original manga.
