Synopsis
High above the human world, the Heavens exist as a realm of floating island nations sustained by the divine magic of their inhabitants. This magic relies on Akuto, a mysterious energy source that is rapidly depleting. While most kingdoms in the Heavens agree to conserve their remaining Akuto, the Magical Kingdom refuses to limit its usage. Its ruler, the Magical King Munto, is convinced that traveling to Earth to meet a specific girl foretold by a seer will replenish the supply. As Munto embarks on this perilous mission, other heavenly powers plot to annihilate the Magical Kingdom and seize the leftover energy for themselves. On the ground, Yumemi Hidaka struggles with her own issues, primarily the fact that she alone can see the floating islands in the sky. Although her best friend Ichiko Ono believes her, Yumemi fears she is losing her sanity. Her worries are compounded when Munto suddenly appears, whom she initially dismisses as a hallucination. Her attention is also drawn to her thirteen-year-old friend, Suzume Imamura, who is planning to run away with her delinquent boyfriend. As the Magical Kingdom approaches collapse, Munto’s efforts to save both the Heavens and Earth become increasingly frantic.
