Synopsis
A young boy finds himself trapped inside a burning house alongside his parents. Though his mother offers him a sugar lump—a temptation he is still too young to refuse—he firmly rejects it. Disregarding both his father's worry and his mother's kindness, he wrestles with inner turmoil and acts out in the defiant, rebellious ways typical of adolescence. While attempting to catch the attention of a girl, he loses command of a borrowed motorcycle and ends up in a crash. Later, he discovers that a bill he had taken from his mother's purse has transformed into a sugar lump inside his pocket. Rather than seeking to reconcile with his family, he gives the sugar lump to his friends, who casually toss it aside.
