At the start of a new term, high school junior Kuroki finds themselves seated next to Mai Chihara, a student surrounded by countless rumors. Chihara, with her gothic attire, jet-black hair, and intense gaze, is labeled as a "jirai-kei"—a term used to describe the hyper-feminine, dark aesthetic associated with yandere behavior and unpredictable temperaments. Despite these fearsome rumors, Kuroki, after inadvertently making eye contact with Chihara, realizes she isn't as volatile as everyone believes. Beneath her tough exterior lies a kind-hearted but eccentric individual. As Kuroki hesitantly delves deeper into understanding Chihara and her unique quirks, they wonder if there’s more to her than just a dangerous reputation or if her somber fashion choices are simply cautionary signals.
