GUNSLINGER GIRL
The Social Welfare Agency in Italy operates under a deceptive guise. It does take in young girls who have suffered horrific abuse, but then subjects them to brainwashing and transforms them into cold-blooded assassins for a highly classified counter-terrorism division of the Italian government. One such girl is Henrietta. After witnessing the brutal slaughter of her family and narrowly surviving, the Agency takes her in, using state-of-the-art cybernetics to mend her injuries. Every memory of Henrietta's former life is erased, and she becomes one of the Agency's most deadly killers.

Background
Gunslinger Girl had six volumes published in English by ADV Manga from December 29, 2003 to December 11, 2007, following several periods of hiatus. After the publisher went defunct, Seven Seas picked up the license, republishing the entire series with new translations and in an omnibus edition (with the exception of the last volume) from February 1, 2011 to July 2, 2013.
