Omoide Emanon

In the winter of 1967, a 20-year-old man is heading home after traveling, and while aboard a ferry, an unexpected meeting changes how he sees the world. Relaxing in the cabin, he is visited by a mysterious and attractive young woman who calls herself Emanon; later that evening, they go to dinner together. Seeing the man reading a science fiction novel, Emanon offers to share her life story, adding that he can choose not to believe it. To his astonishment, she goes on to claim that her memory stretches back more than three billion years, to the exact instant when life first emerged on Earth. Omoide Emanon depicts the incredible story of a girl who acts as the planet's observer—a carrier of genetic memory inherited through her maternal line since the very dawn of life.

Background

Omoide Emanon is based on Shinji Kajio's award-winning novel of the same title, which was first released in 1983. It was published in English as Emanon: Memories of Emanon by Dark Horse on May 8, 2022, and in French by Ki-oon on January 25, 2018.
