Rain Jewlitt, a 624-year-old immortal also called the Methuselah, is a spaced-out man who wears priest's clothes. Machika Balfaltin is a tomboyish, energetic 14-year-old girl who, after her grandfather dies, decides to kill Methuselah—the one bounty that her assassin grandfather, Zol the Grim Reaper, could never collect. However, Machika ends up repeatedly being saved by Rain from other aspiring bounty hunters who attack them both.
