In 1938, Robert E. O. Speedwagon ventures to Mexico with his foundation and Straits to delve deeper into the enigma surrounding the Stone Masks. During their excavation of ancient ruins, Straits suddenly turns against them, driven by a desire for power. He kills most of Speedwagon's team and leaves Speedwagon critically injured. Meanwhile, back in New York City, Joseph Joestar and his grandmother, Erina Pendleton, have moved from London upon Speedwagon's request. Adjusting to the new environment, the fiery-tempered Joseph often gets into conflicts with locals due to cultural misunderstandings, but he easily defeats his adversaries using the "Ripple," a fighting technique inherited from his grandfather, Jonathan Joestar. One night at a downtown Italian restaurant, Joseph and Erina are provoked by a large man at another table who insults them. A gentleman seated at the same table offers an apology and reveals a distressing rumor—that Speedwagon has been murdered. With an uncertain future, Joseph embarks on a bizarre adventure, encountering powerful and determined allies along the way and uncovering concealed truths in far-off locations.

Background

A 17-volume kanzenban version dubbed as JoJonium was published in Japan from December 4, 2013, to March 4, 2015. This edition covered the first three parts of the Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken series and included new cover art which showed redesigns of the characters. The second part, Sentou Chouryuu, was covered in JoJonium's volumes 4-7. JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 2: Sentou Chouryuu was published in English by VIZ Media as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2: Battle Tendency under the Shonen Jump imprint digitally from April 21, 2015, to March 15, 2016, and in print from November 3, 2015, to August 2, 2016, featuring the JoJonium artwork and contents. It was also published in Italian by Star Comics from May 1994 to March 1995.
