Five Star Stories
The Five Star Stories derives its title from the Joker Star Cluster where the narrative unfolds. This cluster comprises four stars: Eastern, Western, Southern, and Northern. The "fifth star" is a massive comet called Stant, which traverses that region of space every 1,500 years, dragging along its own set of orbiting planets. In ages long past, the Farus Di Kanon Empire, often referred to as the "Super Empire," governed all four solar systems within the Joker Cluster. Their civilization possessed a technological sophistication far beyond what exists today, and they dispatched explorers to the farthest reaches of the Joker Galaxy. Around 9000 AD (Ammon Duul), the empire crumbled due to internal conflict. The explorers were summoned back, and the remnants of civilization focused largely on survival. By the time the imperial families of Amaterasu, Fillmore, and Hathuha gathered to establish the JC era, much technology and knowledge had been lost. JC stands for "Joker Calendar" and was intended to provide a shared frame of reference for all nations, fostering a lasting peace. The JC calendar was adopted, but the aspiration for peace never came to fruition. The inaugural story of The Five Star Stories begins in JC 2988. At this point, interstellar travel is commonplace, and genetically engineered "fatimas" have become established as essential co-pilots for the fearsome mortar headds that dominate battlefields. Warfare between nations is routine, and few still hold out hope for peace.
