Kidou Senshi Gundam

In Universal Century 0079, the Principality of Zeon breaks away from the Earth Federation, igniting a widespread war across every continent and colony. Zeon holds the advantage thanks to their revolutionary humanoid mobile suits. When a Zeon reconnaissance team goes against orders and assaults Side 7, the colony's inhabitants discover the Federation's secret weapon: the Gundam. Alongside Earth Federation soldiers stationed on the mobile suit carrier White Base, the makeshift crew of refugees strives to alter the fate of the One Year War—or face death in the attempt.

Background

Kidou Senshi Gundam was first published in English by Del Ray Books in 1990. Due to a lack of official romanizations, a number of names were translated phonetically (e.g. "Char" as "Sha", "Zaku" as "Zaks"). A revised edition, which updated these romanizations, was published in a single omnibus by Stone Bridge Press on April 1, 2004.
