Kinnikuman

キン肉マン

Kinnikuman (also known as Kinniku Suguru) is a cowardly, clumsy, and dimwitted superhero (or Choujin) who devours gyuudon constantly—and just happens to be the prince of an alien planet. Despite his pathetic demeanor, he is deeply honorable and can become quite formidable when the situation demands it. With his sidekick Meat-kun and fellow Choujin Terryman and Ramenman backing him up, Suguru sets out to become the greatest Choujin on Earth. Through either tremendous heart and endurance (The Burning Inner Strength) or the "Power of Friendship," he frequently defeats villains ten times stronger than himself, often turning them into allies after they experience a change of heart. Though he seems fated to remain an idiot forever, Kinnikuman gradually earns the title of "Hero." Note: Between volumes 36 and 37, there was a 22-year gap in publication. From volume 38 onward, the series resumed in the 2011 version.

Background

Kinnikuman won the 30th Shogakukan Manga Award for best children's manga in 1984. In Spain, it was published in Catalan as Musculman by Glénat from November 2006 to June 2008.
