Yi Shi-Woon, known as Shioon, endures a harsh daily routine at Nine Dragons High School, where he is constantly tormented by fellow student Ho Chang and his gang. His life takes an unexpected turn when a stranger named Han Chun Woo witnesses one of these assaults—but instead of helping, Chun Woo calls Shioon a coward for not fighting back. To make matters worse, Shioon later discovers that Chun Woo is the new substitute English teacher at his school. Fed up with the relentless bullying, Shioon decides to join a martial arts academy to learn self-defense. On his way there, he stumbles upon Chun Woo in a tight spot: cornered in an alley by a gang of angry men. When provoked, Chun Woo swiftly takes them down using martial arts moves, which Shioon secretly films. Shioon then uses the footage to blackmail Chun Woo into teaching him how to defend himself. Chun Woo reluctantly agrees, and Shioon is quickly introduced to the hidden world of martial arts, known as Murim. Yet Shioon remains oblivious to his master’s dark history and the dangerous underworld lurking beneath society. The question remains: how will Chun Woo guide Shioon and keep him alive in the realm of Murim?
