The legendary yakuza known as "Immortal Tatsu," who once single-handedly took down an opposing gang with a lead pipe, is a name that strikes fear into hardened police officers and vicious criminals alike. After a sudden disappearance, he resurfaces with a change in career. Now sporting an apron, Tatsu has abandoned violence and strives to make an honest living as a househusband. Adapting to mundane household chores proves its own challenge, from the battlefield of supermarket sales to kitchen mishaps. Though he lives peacefully, misunderstandings dog him at every turn. Gokushufudou follows the daily life of this comically serious ex-yakuza as he leaves his dangerous past behind to become a stay-at-home husband.

The series has been published in English as The Way of the Househusband by VIZ Media under the VIZ Signature imprint since September 17, 2019. It has also been released in Polish by Studio JG since October 7, 2019; and in Italian by J-POP since July 1, 2020.
